Every other major conflict that involved the United States is commemorated by some sort of memorial. The Iraq War shouldn't be any different - after all, this war has gone on longer than our involvement in WWII.

What about a replica of the crossed swords that used to stand in Baghdad, cast from all the metal from captured weapons. A fitting memorial would be a functional Iraq, but we are sadly some way off that.
Just to say that, as a serving airman (UK), the war was over in two weeks and was a stunning vindication of the principle of manoeuvre warfare. Unfortunately, winning the peace has proved rather harder.
