I would. I don't know why, but everytime I tidy up my room it ends up worse when I'm done. I pull everything apart, intending to "organize" it, but then I forget or it takes too long.

Yes, you should 'waste' your time tiding it up. Why? Because once it is done it should not look like that again with just a tiny effort each day. For example, if you wear a jacket, don't throw it on the back of a chair - hang it up. If you spread papers all over the place, scoop them up when you are done! Put them somewhere right away. It is SOOO much easier to deal with things one at a time as you go along rather than to dread cleaning it for weeks and then finally doing it. Don't spend any time thinking about cleaning it and stressing over it. Just get it done and try to keep it that way. It isn't easy, I know. Procrastinating is what's easy. LOL

I know what you mean when you say you find it easier finding things in a mess. I'm like that. My filing cabinet is my desktop lol.
But yes, (should take own advise) you need to tidy up. If you didn't, then in 3 days time it'll be worse.

This is not a patch on my teenage daughter's bedroom. I constantly tell her to clear it up and the next day it's back to it usual state aain. On a good day you can see the carpet - but only a very small amount.
If you like to see it tidy then clear up but if it suits you like this then you may as well leave it.
One small point: clutter attracts spiders!

If anything, you should make it 'more' messy, so when you do tidy it in say.......2weeks from now, you'll get a great sense of achievement! Not only for cleaning the room, but for surviving!!!

You probably should keep your room clean, when your friends and boy/girlfriend come over it isn't very attractive to have a messy room.

But there's a system when your room is cluttered and messy. At least, mine does.
