After healing, handshaking would likely still be an incredibly painful experience. You would also learn to really appreciate your good hand. And lastly, you would be much more careful about what silly ideas you would be willing to try on yourself.

I'd never have to use candles in blackouts.

I could go anywhere late at night withouta flashlight.

It wouldn't really. But it would solve the problem of coming home late at night and trying to find the keyhole when you can hardly see. :P
