I would like to remove all temporary and unncessary files and programs so my computer, which is a Dell Dimension 3000, will run faster, like new?

I already know about Disk Cleanup and Defragmenter.

removing files and programs will not free up RAM. It will free up hard drive space. If you want it to run faster you need to upgrade. install more RAM and possibly upgrade the processor.

Try this and see if this will help with out removing any files for now. Go to Control Panel then open system, and then go to Advanced, then to Performance, then click settings, then Advanced again then look for Virtual Memory, clik Change, look for:
Intial size 1536
Maximum size 3096

Now change the max size to 4096
then click set and then restart computer THIS IS FOR 1 GB of RAM!!

Well what you could do is ask a professional not to be rude. You could get all that memory back don't worry. When you get all the RAM back then you computer reboot itself and eventually get faster but you have to treat it right(LOL). No lie if you fill the computer with a lot of things then it will just get slow again.

Those programs won't clean RAM. You need a program designed to clean RAM. Google the sites and you will probably find one that is free.

There are programs that clean ram but what you need is more hard drive space or another stick of ram. The programs that clean your virtual memory (in my experience) take up virtual memory themselves.

Disk space and RAM are two diff things...

If you want more Disk Space run Disk Cleanup
%SystemRoot%\System32\cleanmgr.exe

If you want more RAM, upgrade or remove unwanted processes and services...
%SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s

Just run msconfig and disable all unnecessary startups.
