Sharia, Islamic religious law, would be a very controversial issue. Some people believe it was given directly from Allah, dictating every aspect of life. Others see it as outdated cultural practices that don't really apply anymore.

Try profiling as it relates to post-9/11 security measures; i.e., the profiling of Muslims, people of Arab ancestry, and those who look like they might be Muslim/Arab, especially in airport security. You can link this to historical situations in which mass hysteria has led to the persecution of a particular group and those suspected to be involved with said group, such as McCarthyism in the 1950s and even the Salem witch trials.
