I want to watch a good old fashioned romantic movie like the ones in the 40's and 50's but a more recent version but i cant think of any

I haven't seen it, but "The Good German" with George Clooney is supposed to be a pretty good romantic "Casablanca" style movie.

Try "Love Affair" with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening - it's based off of "An Affair to Remember" (and the original "Love Affair" from 1939), and I actually think it's better in some regards. Has that quality that you're looking for.
