Been looking around for a Nail Gun for Hubby for Christmas, but not sure what to buy. Sales people try to sell you on the most expensive. I want to stay under $100, but want a good one. Any suggestions?

Harbor Freight has great prices. I bought a combination brad and staple gun that works great. It takes 18 ga nails and staples. I am very happy with it. It only cost me $20.

Other wise, I have a 16 ga finish nailer from Sears that works very well and I think that was under $100. I like that one as it takes nails up to 2 1/2 inches long.

No detail but I'll assume AIR.

No offense but under $100 for a quality GUN is unlikely.

More important to your quest might be the use, and how much use.

You may even get suggestions about Harbor Freight tools, or Northern? I'd advise against any brands vended through them

Certainly you might find a dozen comparable BRANDS, and in your search; again; consider how much use the gun will get. Consider features; which are basic, and similar; but also service and parts locations.

I don't tout any brand in particular. I use many, and often very specifically. Obviously people have faves; just as they have fave colors like RED or BLUE. The object should be in the giving, and in doing some research,,,as you are here, and perhaps spending what a tool is worth for how it will be used and for how long.

I own dozens of nail guns.I had a Senco blow an "O" ring in the field.I ran over to Sears and bought an Craftsman finish nailer for under a hundred dollars. That gun has run for five years without a single problem. Some so called contractors will tell you that a good gun is not in your price range. They are full of, well you know.

you need to be a little more specific. nail guns come in 3 or4 basic sizes. (Brads)- the smallest (finishing)- the middle and then you have (roofing)- also a middle sized and (framing). The framing is the only one that will carry large enough nails to actually build something with, and your not going to find a descent framer for under $100 sorry

First question, does your Hubby have an air compressor? Without an air compressor, you are limited to electric nailers which don't always have the power to do much or a "cordless" version that can be expensive.

Second question, brad, finish or framing nail gun? What would he use it for? That is a really big question.

First of all what kind of nail gun? Do you want one that shoots framing nails, brads, finish nails, etc.? Each one of those requires a different gun. What is he going to be using it for? Add comments and I'll try to help

I have a cheap $20 dollar one I got from Lowes and it works great. Just don't buy the one that's a nail gun and staple gun. Those don't work well.

www.harborfreight.com has some nice air tools for home repairs. They have small brad guns up to framing nail ones - you didn't say what size, so I can't give you an exact link.
