Out of nowhere my heart beat starts racing I feel as though my senses are dulled, like I can't feel, I can't taste, my mouth gets dry. I feel as though I am in a dream like state, I feel detached from my physical body. THis happens when I am in a big place like a mall, and everyone's voice seems amplified. Sometimes it happens in smaller places at home.

Anyone know what this could be. I have an idea

It sounds like an anxiety attack. If it is interfering with your life, consider speaking with a therapist.

Sounds like a panic attack to me!!! Believe me I've been having them for around seven years now. At first I didn't know what was happening, I thought that maybe I was having a heart attack or a stroke, but nope. It's Anxiety and panic attacks. Mine happen most often in a crowded place, like Wal-Mart or the movies. You can talk to your doctor about them, and he can prescribe something like Xanex to help.

I would say that you were either having a panic attack or anxiety attack. That happens to me occasionally when I am in a mall or store, especially when it is hot and stuffy. I wouldn't be too concerned about it, if it doesn't effect you all of the time!

Ahh I hate that feeling.

I agree with Ladyluck, it could be anxiety or a panic attack. There are medications for that maybe even some natural remedies.

Perhaps it is a latent form of agoraphobia one that manifests itself by exemplifying your fear through physical symptoms. I do remember one of my instructors teaching about a phenomonon similar to this.
