I liked worms when I was 5 years old, too....or maybe I was a little older than that. But I don't think I ever exactly thought of them as "bugs". These days, I am afraid I tend to think of most bugs as a nuisance....but ladybugs and butterflies can be pretty.

I asked my 5 year old, and she said a butterfly. Mine is a firefly (which you may call a "lightning bug" since you are from the South too - I know I do).

I think you are just using that as a pretext! I think it is GEM who wants to know! But anyway, my favorite bug is the ladybug. They are so cute, and they hybernate in the winter. They do no harm that I know of, and are beneficial.

Something that we locally call a gungalo in the Virgin Islands.... It's a worm. :-) Sometimes, they're red and sometimes, they're black with metallic green left-right (horizontal) stripes.... I don't like stepping on them, but they're cute :-) They're really sloooww, since they're crawling on all those tiny little legs.

Lady bugs, my mom calls me ladybugs, and I'm started a collection, I allready have a ladybug blanket, cross stitch and several hoodies with "Ladybug" on it.

Worms are great, you can use 'em for bait!
They are slippery and slimy
Brown, red and shiny
And they help in the composter too!

None. I have arachnopobia because of a terrible experience with a spider years ago. I hate all insects.
