For the last 3 years I have had a small trash company take my trash away. They are quite reasonable and the owner is a responsible type of person that treats his customers and employees decently and fairly.

It really depends on where you live and what the regulations are in your community. I would recommend checking the web for your local county or city web pages. Where I live, the local trash/recycling company charges something like $25 per large appliance. To get an appliance picked up, I had to mail them a check. Once they received it, they would call me to coordinate a pick-up time. (The county awards contracts for companies to handle different neighborhoods, so I didn't have any choice of which company to use.) Since I had a pickup truck, I found I could drop off a washer and dryer for free at the local recycling facility, which saved me $50 and the hassle of mailing a check and waiting for them to process it. As my source is my county's web site for recyling, which I think is a good example of how the system works, but perhaps not in your area.

Used to work for a company that had dumpsters outside and people would dump their garbage all the time. My boss started checking the garbage found addresses on letters and other things. Then he "returned" the garbage to the front steps of the people that had brought it.

Uh, what?
We put our trash on the curb and the city trash people come pick it up....
and if we run out of room,
we sneak over and put the extra in the next door neighbors trash can,
because the city gave us all special trashcans that we're required to use.

I live in a really small town, so we HAVE to load up our car and take our trash to the dump... giant holes filled wish trash and sometimes the occassional dead cow... EW! My sister won this giant stuffed mario when she was little and he REEEEEKED! So our parents stole him in the middle of the night and now he's under the dirt... At least he got a proper burial.... sort of... haha

A trash company comes by once a week, usually on Fridays and removes our trash for us.

Um trash collection is paid by my township from property taxes. Hence it's 'free' so to speak. But not everywhere is like that, township next to us has people pay a fee every month.
No fee, no trash pickup.

I use a trash company.
I don't like taking out the trash,
let alone sneaking around with it.
