good question. i don't know if it's because they are less intelligent than other people, or if they are more gullible and believe everything fox news is telling them.
those same people take advantage of "socialist" ideas like the weekend, the 40 hour workweek, police and fire protection, work safety laws, etc. they will also all happily accept their social security checks when they start coming.
for years, we were taught that the soviet union was the big bad enemy, and apparently we are not subtle enough to avoid throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

They confuse real Socialism with the brand of twisted, messy fascism which Hitler called "National Socialism". Hitler called himself a Socialist but he wasn't. A cow can call itself a dog but if it moos its a cow.

They are taught that "every man for himself" and "me first me second me last" is the best way to be. Maybe when you see people starving on the streets you can chuck a few dollars to charity to make yourself feel better.

The rich at the top of the political tree in America realise that if the masses realised that socialist policies could result in fairness such as access to healthcare for everyone, they might start demanding it and it would make a lot of these rich people considerably less richer (eg those who run the Health Insurance Scams)So they make sure that schools and the media ram home the "Socialism bad, Capitalism good" message repeatedly and sadly it just tends to stick in the majority of American heads.

Danielle I have never met ANYONE here in the UK who pulls their own teeth. That article was utter rubbish - a piece of propaganda from the American right to brainwash you ever further. Besides which how many people in America have to pull out their own teeth because they can't afford to pay private dental fees?

How many kids in the UK die of a tooth abcess because their parents have no money to pay for dental treatment? None. Oh yes it happened in America didn't it? How did that go for ya?

not all human beings experience that way, Wayne. The variety of gun-appropriate deaths it is astonishing whilst in comparison with countries which have lifelike gun administration. the difficulty is that here, there is an exceedingly, very "squeaky wheel" employer called the nationwide Rifle affiliation which gets lots of oil from the U.S. government. The NRA has twisted the form so a protracted way as to strangle it; whilst the "proper to undergo palms" replaced into written into the form, muzzle-loaders have been the preeminent weapon. I doubt our "founding fathers" foresaw semiautomatic rifles and handguns. however the NRA insists that that is each American's proper to very own something in need of a private RPG launcher. There were a non everlasting ban on attack-sort weapons, yet it replaced into quietly allowed to run out in, i think, 2004. I blame our cowardly congressmen and females for permitting this to ensue. The NRA, in spite of the actuality that it includes basically a tiny fraction of the yank public, are being allowed to dictate regulations that impression each and each one human beings. Why they have this style of disproportionately great impression in our government is previous me. I fairly have continuously believed that not basically ought to attack and semiautomatic weapons be banned, yet handguns besides. the sole objective a handgun serves is to be honestly hid. and that i'd in my opinion prefer to stay in a non violent socialist us of a than stay in the massacre that the U.S. has become. in recent times, one can't pass to the mall, one's place of worship, or curiously even difficulty-free college and have confidence that one will pass away with their lives. disgrace on the yank human beings for not status as much as the NRA bullies!

I do not think Americans are afraid of socialism.Communism in its old form is dead.Socialism is based on equality of opportunity and common ownership of means of production. If you measure by that stand there is more socialism in USA compared to even communist countries.Any willing person can do work and earn same wage rates. There is no discrimination based on caste or colour, and there is equal opportunity for man and woman. The multinational companies are NOT owned by a single person ,but by MILLIONS of share holders(in China or Russia they are owned by Govt). Is that not common ownership by masses?USA is more socialist than any other country in the world.

How are socialist programs different than communist programs? Functionally very little. Then show me an example of a prosperous communist society? They tend to fail because there's no incentive to produce let alone innovate.

Seriously, one communist society that everyone wasn't miserable. Or American where our poor have 2 t.v.'s and 1 or more cars.

Like jumping off a building inevitably leads to a fatal impact with sidewalk, so, too, does socialism invariably lead to serfdom and loss of rights and freedoms.

All governments grow larger and larger and all people lose rights and freedoms, but socialism accelerates the process.

And, the most important point, socialism is inherently completely contrary to the Constitution of the United States of America.

No idea, I always wondered when you look at who they get on well with. most of which are Socialist governments. they seem to think the social idea is not really like what their founding fathers wanted. which is strange since most socialist writers draw on the same writings of men like Voltaire, Rousseau and Edmund Burke. not to mention some of the men that wrote that great line. All men are created equal. that is what most socialists believe in after all.
