War is an economical process in which high technology products are produced without the need of a market for them as they are produced to be destroyed. The best aspect of the process is that such production is financed by funds of the People, that considers themselves benefited by the process, and therefore accepts it without reservations.

Besides, the process develops technologies might can be later sold with good profits to the same society that financed their development.

Therefore, battle activities are a promoter of the development of Humanity and their Global Technical Enterprises.

Are their benefits larger than their destructive aspects? Or is Humanity in a process of diminishing welfare?

War is obviously a destructive process, even from an economic viewpoint. Though there are byproducts of warfare technology that benefit mankind, these are only byproducts. Obviously if the amount of capital and labor expended on warfare would be turned towards more productive intellectual pursuits there would be a higher return. Furthermore this return would most likely cause less of a negative impact. Lastly, the next generation of weapons (or some type of weapon of the future) will have the ability to wipe out humanity (such as anti gravity arrays which could rip apart spacetime) if current trends continue. This last part will easily outwiegh the idea that war is beneficial b/c it risks outright extinction of humanity, and thus there can be nothing worse and no progress or improvement that can justify this.

I think that it is not the war that causes improvement but that when people are confronted with different cultures and situations they are stimulated to think in new ways and come up with new technologies. However this confrontation often results in war, so we associate war with change. There are many examples in history where civilizations stagnated when isolated, and even more when they were destroyed by excessive warfare.

The only thing war develops is the profits of the corporations and bank lenders who sustain the wars.

Humanity declines because of war.
