Here are two answers of many. You have to scramble for the others.

Alexander Hamilton set up a central bank. He established a "hard" currency. He understood the value of a strong dollar.

Jefferson, who defeated John Adams for re-election, thought that the strength of the U.S. was in its farmers and artisans, to the exclusion of factories. He was against a central bank, because he thought it would benefit the rich and not the farmers and artisans.

So I guess that what you should know is that the Republican-Democrats (Jefferson's party) defeated the Federalists Adams), and that was the beginning of parties in the U.S.

The first political split and formation of parties was over the issue of ultimate authority, should more power reside with the Federal Government or with the State governments. A series of compromises were made delegating certain powers to the Federal government and leaving all other unstated authority to the states. The States Rights versus Federal Power remained a critical issue for many years.

In the Civil war the northerners felt they were fighting against slavery while southerners often thought they were fighting against intrusive Federal authority over the slavery issue.
