Personally, I have no problem with it. As a country, it is probably time to drop the death penalty. We have difficulty extraditing from most other countries in the world for murder suspects because of the death penalty. The only other nations in the world that have a death penalty are north korea, Iran, albania, and several other countries I'd truly rather not be spoken about in the same breath lol. At any rate, in this particular instance we give up very little to join with the rest of the civilized world. On that basis I'd like to see it dropped.

Being a victim and haveing time to think things through and seeing what happens when the predator returns to the streets and manipulates people of faith.

I really wish that would have been an option.

My vague disconnected un-thought out position on things were different. Why kill someone, that's not punishment. Why kill something that can't speak for it's self. However, I have had plenty of time to think and research and evaluate things.

There just is no stopping some people, there is no choice but to destroy them for the safety of the innocent.

And these people excel at manipulation. This creates more victims when people realize they were taken in or that they assisted in harming others.

So although I know the law is corrupted and often wrong, I have been put in a position where I understand this is the safest way to take down the jaggernauts.

I think it is important to get the facts straight and make up your mind based on them. You don't have to condone brutal crimes or want the criminals who commit them to avoid a harsh punishment to ask whether the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and whether it risks killing innocent people.

124 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in states that don’t.

We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.

The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.

The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.

I am for the death penalty, only if the person convicted has been proven without a shadow of a doubt that they are guilty (Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gasey (sp??). The only problem is those convicted stay on death row 20+ years, eating up our tax dollars. If they are truly guilty, and have no chance of appeal, there should not be a wait.

Only if they are 100% sure that the person committed the crime, like as in someone other then the victim saw the crime. I didn't realize just how many innocent people were sitting on death row until I started reading info on the internet. There is a web page where inmates are able to post their stories and claim their innocents. I would think yeah yeah yeah sure they are innocent. I then happened to come across other pages where they had proven people innocent after many years. Sad.....

I'm a true believer in a three times and you are out for stuff like drunk driving, rape, drug dealing etc. Where there is premeditated murder or mass murdering then it should be ok to shoot to kill at the scene.

Having heard all the pro-life and human right activists’ argument, and admitting to the fact that they really put up good reasoning, yet I believe there should be capital punishment for very especial cases such as serial killers or serial rapists (just personal opinion)

I think the whole country needs to take the idea Texas has and use it-if there's 3 or more credible witnesses to a heinous act put their rear in the express lane to meet their maker.

I am fascinated by it. I'm not sure if I agree... I think if someone gets sentenced to death, that the jury has to be the firing squad, within 3 days of the sentence.

smtime d crimes one does is so heinous...nd dere is not a least punishment u can gv to that person...punishment is smthn u gv to person..to bcm better...nd nt to repeat that...but as for death penalty its an example to those others who intend to do smthn evil...that d worst u can get is be deprived of the world...
