Ok, I've recently been on a kick for this type of music, but I'm not sure what it's called, and I don't know good phrases/key-words to search for on programs like napster.

Basically, it's movie-theme music. The really energetic- high-build-up music. Symphony-style, usually. The songs are usually 6-10 minutes long, much longer than an average song on the radio. Often Exampels: the movie "The Rock"'s main theme song, and "Pirates of the Carribean" theme. There's also a new one that I really like that is in the previews for the new movie "Assasin".
In fact, this type of music is allllways in the new-movie-release previews for suspense/action thrillers. . .

What's it called? What kind of music? Do you know of any specific song names (list as many as you know), or any artists/groups/symphonies, or whatever, that perform this style of music?

Thanks!

You can find the main theme for any movie by searching for the name of the movie along with 'main theme' such as: 'transformers main theme' or 'smallville main theme'

The exact type of music you are describing is called the 'SCORE'. Every movie or show has its own score. A movie's score also includes, but is not limited to, its 'main theme', 'love theme', 'battle theme' or 'ending credit theme'.

Generally music that serves as the soundtrack to movies is known as the "score." It was specifically written and performed for that movie. These tracks are usually kind of hard to find because not a lot of movies release the score on CD. Most times you will find CDs that have music that was just used in the movie somewhere, but not the orchestral stuff.

It's called the movie score.

You can do a search for the movie soundtrack. But keep in mind that the score is not necessarily the soundtrack. Movie soundtracks do not always include the score tracks.

Tip: Look for "score" in the title of the CD.
