My daughter is at that age when she will want to listen current music (hip hop and crap). Before she gets too involved I want her to be influenced by something with more meaning like the Beatles.

I want to get an album that encompasses their entire career up to when McCartney started with Wings. Which Beatles Anthology/Box Set will suit my needs?

Hopsmaster, it is worth a try isn't it? Like I said I want her to 'influenced' which is different than forcing her to like the Beatles.

Besides... she likes Country music which is better than hip hop and crap; so it is a start.

Hey Josh, Yep there are many good styles of music. I am slowly making my way through them. We've been listening to Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi, etc... just to name a few classical artists that we've been listening to recently. As well as blues from various parts of the country (Chicago, Louisianna, etc) and zydeco!

There is the anthology 1, 2 and 3. There is also The Beatles:1962 -1966 and The Beatles: 1967- 1970. All of these are two disc sets. There is also an album named 1. It has the hit songs from the entire career. The anthologies encompass the most songs. I'd go with 1 because it has a good flavor of their entire career.

If your daughter already likes hip-hop and rap, The Grey Album by Danger Mouse would be a PERFECT way to introduce your daughter to the Beatles without completely slamming the door to what is currently popular with her peers. It combines The Beatles' White Album with Jay-Z's Black Album. I'm not huge into hip hop or rap, but I really loved the style of this CD.

As for an all-encompassing CD, the Beatles 1 would be the one I'd recommend, especially for an introduction to the Beatles, since it captures every #1 single from 1962-70...

It is probably inevitable that she will be influenced by what is currently popular, so don't try to completely stifle that. Instead, take what has inspired you musically and find a way to make it meaningful to her life. You may both discover things you like :)

Peace.

Get The Beatles 1. It's a compilation of 27 of they're #1 songs, from the beginning of their career all the way through the end. Absolutely wonderful album, and a good one to initiate someone into the world of the Beatles. Might I also suggest you introduce your daughter to jazz, country, opera, classical and folk as well. A broad range of music is out there, and if you want to get her into you need to show the full range, including some hip-hop. I mean, if anything, it allows her to figure out what's good and what's not.

I have "The Beatles/1967-1970". It's a compilation of 28 of their songs. I don't know if it's still available. I purchased it in 1993. The songs from 1964 to 1967 I have only singles of. I just don't know if there is such an album that encompasses all of their music.

If you want albums that are strictly comprised of their hits and sort of an introduction to the group, then check out "#1s", which came out a few years ago or "The Beatles 1962-1966" and "The Beatles 1967-1970". All those are good overall introductions to the band.

Get the "1" album. It's like 25 of their #1 hits. It's really good and would be a goo dplace to start.

Well, how old is she?

If she`s a pre-teen, or a teenager. She isn`t going to be interested in that old-folks music. You want her to appreciate music? Start playing the music you like. She gets to listen to her music for an hour or two, then you get to listen to your music for an hour or two...and she gets subjected to it.
