Put a small amount in a test tube, and add a gram or two of sugar. If the sugar turns black, it's H2SO4.

"Smell" it...ie. with the container open briefly swipe your hand over the top to divert fumes close to your nose----BE CAREFUL!

The H2SO4 will have a sulfuous odor. If it is a mixture this way is not that reliable.

H2SO4 is heavier than HCl. In concentrated state it is more viscous than HCl.
Combining H2SO4 with just about anything wil release SO2 which you will recognize by its odor.

Good luck and be carful any use of either one requires adequate ventilation.

Dissolve some calcium chloride in water. Add some of the mystery acid. If it turns white and chalky it is sulfuric acid. (Calcium sulfate precipitate is gypsum.)
