I'm asking because my sink doesn't have overflow holes and it's just a standard sink that was installed but I'm being told it's some fancy marble top - which it's not.

I have noticed that the sink manufacturers are now omitting the overflows. This means you need to be careful about overfilling them. I think it is a mistake but I don't own the companies. Cultured marble is a manmade product using ground up marble. The material has nothing to do with having/not having an overflow.

I believe cultured means that the marble is actually made from marble stone which is ground up and then mixed with an epoxy type substance and molded under pressure. Standard sink tops can be acrylic, steel with enameled exterior, stainless steel, and procelan coated. Marble has the advantage of being able to partially mix and get the striations, colors, and other features that look good in a sink.

Give the 10 to answer 1. No offense but you didn't offer a comparison that could be explained in STANDARD.

I will tell you this. Cultured marble is susseptable to "Burning"; IE: people who set a cigarette on the sink; a Hot curling iron; etc.

Ozarks Bum is correct in the way that they are manufactured. I thought you were asking if installation and fittings are the same. If that is your question, then the answer is yes.
