Schools separated by gender, what would be the result of such changes in our nations schools? Would this help children learn better? Would this help focus students in schools instead of friends?

It's an interesting concept. The middle school in the town where I live is thinking about putting it into place. Not so much segregating schools, but just classes so that there are only boys in classes together and girls in classes together. I'm anxious to see how it goes.

It would probably work well for boys, but with girls, there would end up being a LOT of drama AND an overabundance of estrogen.

There are many schools that are gender segregated (although segrated seems to be akin to discrimination) in many commonwealth countries. I agree with you that students learn better when they are in single sex classes, however they should not be restricted in interaction with the opposite sex during break times like recess and lunch. There are some schools in Australia where they are co-educational but the classes are single sex and they only get together during lunch times, musicals and other co-curricular activities.

I think that it would boost learning and result in higher grades, however, kids are crafty and will probably get in even more trouble after school and on weekends hooking up with the opposite sexes. There are good points and bad points to your idea, but if the parents aren't willing to do this for their children, then it's all just a pipe dream.

Some are already separated by gender. They tend to be parochial schools but there are some public schools as well.

co-ed education IN MY OPINION helps kids learn and interact better. This may not be true of the MILITARY academies.
