A real diamond in the rough. In junior he excelled and again in the AHL he was outstanding. The Habs are moving him along slowly so he doesn't get overloaded and lose confidence. One goal let in just doesn't bother him. He seems to be able to step it up and shut the door when the game is on the line. It's still early but, he has impressed the heck out of me the last couple years and I look forward to seeing him progress. It may be too early to give him titles or make comparisons but, there will be a day for those. I'm sure of that.
Erica: there's no real method to success with goalies. Roy and Dryden got thrown to the lions and did well. In Fleury's case, we saw the first chink in the armor during the World Juniors agains the US when he scored on himself in the Finals. He hasn't been able to string together 2 good starts since then.

I tried to hold any judgements back until I saw him play. I heard a lot about him from various sources. Then, after seeing him defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins twice, I'm sold.
I know that was only two games, but his calmness impressed me. I'm not comparing him to the guy any other way, but I have to mention that I think one of Martin Brodeur's keys to success is how calm he can be. Seeing him in a shootout was a real treat too. As he gradually became more comfortable, instead of reacting, he came out to challenge the shooter.
I wish the Penguins had treated Marc-Andre Fleury the same way and brought him along slower. I guess they didn't have that option though because unlike Montreal, they're not deep at goal.

What I have seen over the last 2 years, impressive. he looks calm and controlled in the net. Does not get rattled after he has been scored upon.
Time well tell, it usually take goaltenders longer to develop but so far he looks like the #2 pick behind Crosby in 2005.

He's the real deal. There are several teams he could start for now......and those teams would improve.
He has excellent hand-eye co-ordination, a very good glove hand, and reads the play extremely well for a young goaltender.
He'll be a star sooner rather than later.

He's good, he's big, he's calm and he's the future of the Montreal Canadiens.
Patrick Roy said that he was impressed with the kid, can you imagine him in a couple of years!!! And the Habs have the best goalie coaches in the league.
He's the real deal!!!

I got to see him in person in Pittsburgh and I was pretty impressed. I wouldn't annoint him as the next (insert name here) yet, but Habs fans have to be encouraged.

I would say so far so good. However it takes years for a target to mature and get to an elite level.
So really can't give an outright opinion just yet.

he'll be a great goalie some day, but as of now the only thing that makes him particularly special is his age and promise.
