I'm not sure.

It sounds like Nathan with an L, right? It has an appealing sound. But unlike Nathan, which shortens to Nate and Nat, I can't imagine a nickname for Lathan.

So while I *do* kind of like the name, but I'm not sure if it will wear well. Then again, Lathan is only two syllables, and it isn't as if Logan is known as Log, or Braiden as Braid ... so maybe it will just take some getting used to.

Enjoy your new grandchild!

I don't like it... And, as someone stated "she'll always be saying no, Lathan, not Nathan"... That is true, but HE will always be saying no, its Lathan Not Nathan.... His ENTIRE life!!! He'll go through sixty years or more correcting people. And probably cursing his mother alot along the way. I don't like when people do this to their children... there are ways to be unique with a name without choosing a name that is a burden. And this name will be a burden. For those who are saying, he can always go by Robert.... If you want them to go by the middle name, then name them that.

Lathan, not so much, since it's cold sounding, almost like a town name. "we moved here from Lathan, Ohio".
Robert is a classic, so that's a great choice for a first or middle name.

Lathan, I don't like the way it sounds.

Other names that sound good with the last name Robert...

William Robert
Andrew Robert
Ashton Robert
Elijah Robert
Caleb Robert
Mitchell Robert
Landon Robert

I stay clear of newer names myself, I like the classics.

Yes and like the first post said, they'll both be saying,"No it's Lathan not Nathan." I personally had to deal with that myself. "My name's Randi not BRANDY!" It pisses me off cause I have to explain this nearly everyday of my life.

I think iam pretty mean when it comes to names, as iam overly opinionated, most people who have asked can tell you that.

But, as it is, I actually like Lathan. I think she'll forever be saying, "no, not nathan, lathan." which is annoying. But thats okay.

I don't like it much. I think it's trying too hard to be original where a good name like Nathan would suffice.
