...not a Boston fan. I'm a KC fan since 73', both Royals and Chiefs.

Sabathia : 19-7, 3.21 ERA, 209 K's, 241.0 innings, 37 BB's.

Beckett : 20-7, 3.27 ERA, 194 K's, 200.2 K's.

ERA : Sabathia

Wins : Tie. 19-7 20-7 is a tie.

K's : Sabathia

Innings : Sabathia.

Playoffs : Beckett.

Trust me, I was SHOCKED to see Sabathia win the Cy Young, but if you look at it that way it looks like Sabathia should have one. And im not just saying that 'cause Beckett is a Sox.

Beckett is a nasty pitcher, we all know this. Sabathia is great, no doubt about it. Sabathia and Beckett both kicked butt during regular season and Sabathia folded in the playoffs. This is how it goes sometimes. I'm sure if you asked Beckett which he'd rather have, he'd tell you a World Series!

Not a joke to me. C.C had a better year & was better than Beckett in all pitching stats except for one less win & even though Beckett had a terrific post season, those stats don't count towards the Cy Young award.

They both had Cy Young caliber seasons. I can't fault anyone for voting for Sabathia. Frankly it doesn't bother me that Beckett didn't win, just like I didn't jump for joy when Pedroia won the R.O.Y. These individual awards are ok but the important thing is that they won the Series.

Yeah, I don't know. I'm sure the NY writers on the ballot didn't vote for Beckett just like they wouldn't vote for Pedro.
It's funny how when all these pitchers went head to head Beckett came out on top. Wang, Lackey & Sabathia all fell hard when one-on-one. Ah well, after the playoffs Sabathia knows that it's a hollow victory.

NCAAF is right. It is a regular season award. Look at the stats, and CC had the same if not better stats than Beckett.

Just look at the numbers and remember that the playoffs don't count.

I don't see the problem, Sabathia had better impact #'s.
I don't think Beckett will be crying as he looks at his WS ring.

I think the right choice was made, Sabathia had better regular season stats.

The answer is simple. Instead of actually watching the pitchers the writers watched Sportcenter.
