My Dad, Randy S, fratured his leg skydiving and they have to break it because it isn't healing properly. It's too infected right now, but when the infection is down, they plan to do it.
How long did your break take to heal?

Hi Sweety!! I have broken many bones but it was when I was younger! I healed pretty quick despite having Diabetes! I think it normally takes about 1 1/2 to 2 months for a break to heal. It also depends on how bad the break is! My daughter broke her collar bone when she ran into the side of a moving vehicle a few years ago & it healed in 2 months. But I'm sure your Dad being as stubborn as he is won't be able to relax long enough to let the healing process take place! It's not easy being a parent sometimes & you just gotta let him do his own thing I guess! You'll know when he needs help with something!! Take care!!

I broke my wrist while snowboarding. It took 4 and a half weeks in a cast to heal (even after that it takes a while of rehabilitation). Be glad, a break actually takes less time to heal than a fracture! I don't know why tho........ just something the doctor told me!

I broke my big toe on my right foot by kicking my best friend in the knee. Didn't get a cast I think it took a week or so to heal not sure it was a long time ago.

For a break to heal, it can take any where from 6 weeks to 6 months to heal, depending on the savirity of the break. I hope he gets to feeling better!

I fell down the stairs and fractured my skull when I was 21..and with that same fall I fractured my left wrist every bone in it,...The hospital did NOTHING but X rays for my head and I had to wear a cast for 8 weeks ,,.,I had a 3 month old kid so it was hard to deal with ,,but I had too,,I felt clostaphobic with a cast on so he cut it down the middle and told me to keep it on and keep it taped with an ace bandage,,,That helped knowing I could take if off If I had to ,,but I never did,,It hurt too much.
I also broke my ankel a few times but I had a small fracture and I only had a one of those gel casts on ,,and I could take it on and off when I needed too,,,
So Sorry to hear about your dad's break...Hope it heals real soon...

I broke my right foot and all the toes on that foot numerous times. Lots of fun. Right arm twice and was in a cast for at least 6 weeks. Then I had to take physio. They didn't put my foot into a cast but splinted my toes. So much fun--NOT!!
When coughing and sneezing from bronchitis, I cracked my ribs and some discs in my back.

Give your Dad a hug from me and tell him to get better fast.x

I broke my leg 2-3 months ago. I was in a stabelizer (the poor mans cast). it depends a lot on where it broke as to how long it will take to heal. mine broke the lobe off right below where the acl connects, it took me 2 months to start walking on it, but I'm 330lbs. 6'4, 58" chest. I'm just plane a big guy. BTW, bug guys like me shouldn't play tarzan.

I only had broken ribs so there was no cast. But my sister broke her leg falling down some stairs. With all of the surgeries and rehab, she was in and out of casts for a year. Hers was infected, too, then the pin worked out so it was a mess.
