I've noticed that pattern. Basically, these people just hate oil companies. They notice the corruption they exhibit and pretend that somehow if oil wasn't the top commodity that the industry chosen to replace it wouldn't be corrupt. Let's say hypothetically oil is a loser in 5 years, fast forward 100 years where clean technology companies are the thing. Do you think they won't do underhanded deals with the government? Get subsidies? Wield influences in elections? Control the population to some extent? Continually raise energy prices? Of course they would, all of the 'evil' things that oil companies do would be done by the clean technology companies as well. It's just that for now, the clean technology companies are behaving, they are the underdog and they need to continue the ruse that they are acting in society's best interests, when really they just want to line their pockets with money like the oil companies have.

What I find ironic too is that oil didn't need a consortium of supporters to get where it is. They saw a problem (the need for the combustion engine and a way to fuel it), they found a solution, and the population found it acceptable. Al Gore's companies for the most part need to get ordinary people to believe that what they will provide is better; why don't they lead by example before convincing people that we need to overthrow the oil industry to improve?

They'll shut up in 20 years when the polar caps remain frozen, the coastal cities refuse to flood, and everything else they lament about doesn't happen and people wake up to the realization that they have been duped by this gigantic fraud called global warming.

People just hate Bush. It isn't enough to just disagree with him.

For the life of me though, I cannot understand why people are buying Big Al's snake oil. The sky is NOT falling.

To answer your question, a resounding YES! It is a double standard.

It's the most double of double standards. It's like the loopy libs who continually decry VP Cheney's former affiliation with Halliburton yet completely ignore the fact that their buttbuddy Soros owns 1.8 million shares of the same company.

the size of operations has nothing to do with it...only the business practices and ethics should be dealt with. Why not welcome a little change?

Pfo you make a good point. But isn't it any consulation that the future is green, and that though curruption remains, they can only **** us over with prices instead of toxifying our planet?

You have to have a standard before it can be doubled.
