well i've been cast the part of Proctor for the last scene for my GCSE... it's quite an honour but looking through it i'm finding it difficult to get the feelings for elizabeth right, im usually ok but im finding this part very difficult...if any of you haave acted this part I would love to hear some tips or techniques, anything that can up my performance. Thanks a lot =D

He obbviously loves her very much.

Everything you need is in the lines. Trust the playwright and just react to the stimuli of the scene by responding with the lines.

Make the scene about her. She is the most important thing in the room. Always remember that the stakes are (for John), literaly, life and death.

Ask yourself: "What am I trying to do to her?" "What do I want her to say when I've finished talking," and then wait for that answer. Make your choices as specific and physical as possible. What does it do to you when she can't supply the answers for you?
