Sabathia was technically was the better pitcher in the regular season. Threw more innings, had a lower era, more strike outs (i believe this one is true but im not sure)

Im a big Sox fan and would take Beckett over Sabathia all day long but Sabathia did have better regular season stats thatn Beckett and also didnt miss any time on the DL wich helped. The Cy Young is based on regular season and Sabathia deserved to win that award but Beckett is by far the better pitcher and proved it when it mattered.

They both had Cy Young caliber seasons. I can't fault anyone for voting for Sabathia. Frankly it doesn't bother me that Beckett didn't win, just like I didn't jump for joy when Pedroia won the R.O.Y. These individual awards are ok but the important thing is that they won the Series.

Sabathia : 19-7, 3.21 ERA, 209 K's, 241.0 innings, 37 BB's.

Beckett : 20-7, 3.27 ERA, 194 K's, 200.2 K's.

ERA : Sabathia

Wins : Tie. 19-7 20-7 is a tie.

K's : Sabathia

Innings : Sabathia.

Playoffs : Beckett.

Trust me, I was SHOCKED to see Sabathia win the Cy Young, but if you look at it that way it looks like Sabathia should have one. And im not just saying that 'cause Beckett is a Sox.

Oh, Boo Hoo, Red Sox fan. I knew some Red Sox fan was going to spoil the party. Sabathia led the league in a lot of catagories. Red Sox already won the World Series and Pedroia won Rookie of The Year. Give some other team a chance to win something.

Sabathia was a good choice just as Beckett would have been. There is usually more than one good option for this award and this year was no exception.

Ridiculous? The only thing that put Beckett over Sabathia is a single win.

What #'s were you looking at that makes you think that the selection is poor?

THE PLAYOFFS DON'T COUNT IN CY YOUNG VOTING!

So shut up about the playoffs. CC was either close or better in every other category including 40 more innings pitched. This should not be a surprise to anyone as long as you know that it is a regular season award. Also, whether or not you want him on your team doesn't figure into voting either.
