Our generation right now is wearing name brand clothes. I am trying to find an argument that is saying we dont wear name brands for advertising and with logos on them for companies. What are some arguments for symbols, images, and name brands. Sorry if i was unclear.

1) For wearing name brands:

Companies that manufacture name brand products are under scrutiny for their manufacturing processes (environmentally) and ethical work-place practices - like child labour, insane working hours, decrepit facilities, abuse for lack of hyper-inflated production expectations, and work place safety. In recent years name brands have had poor practices exposed and have been forced to work with suppliers that have humane practices and to use environmentally helpful manufacturing materials and processes.

2)
a) Not wearing them: Name brands are typically associated with social status. This is why many private and certain public schools have adopted uniforms to level the clothing playing field. It means that students that don't have the same financial means as their contemporaries are not as obvious and does not create the same pressure on parents who work hard but can not afford expensive name brands.

b) Expense: typically name brands are far more expensive than their generic counterparts. It is also not universally true that the quality of name brand and generic products is higher; many of generic products are re-brandings of the same name brand products. Because the public is willing to buy name brand with the allure of quality or status they pay a higher price - this is the case more often than the average person knows.

c) Name brand is about influence and sheep like mentality. It is harder (not impossible) to be unique or creative when using name brand as the goal of most name brand is buy me and use me prominently so more people will buy me - this influence works to limit creativity, resourcefulness, and uniqueness.

d) Many non-brand-name products are made by smaller companies that don't have the same marketing power or reach in their markets as the brand name producers; therefore it is often good to support smaller manufacturers as it promotes employment and earned money to remain in the local economy.

I probably shouldn't be the one answering this question because I hate brand name clothes, but most of my friends wear them so I can sum up their opinions.

1. Like everyone else has said: durability and quality!

2. Again, it can help you fit it. This is somewhat of a stupid answer because when you think about it, yeah, the "cool" kids all wear Jucy and have Coach bags, but owning those won't make you cooler. Some people will just look down on you as being a brat or poser. I'd call it a brat. It's more about making yourself feel cooler and more valid. And if you are a "cool" kid, you're expected to wear expensive clothing.

3. As one of my friends said, "These jeans make my butt look good and not flat." Yeah, people pay money to look good. Everyday, we judge books by their cover. It's human nature and people should just roll with it. If you're dressed nicely, you seem more together and successful. Dress for the job you want, not the one you have (love What Not to Wear!)

I can't think of anything else. In my opinion, we should all wear sweatpants, jeans, and sweatshirts. :)

A lot of name brand clothes are worn b/c it's better material and more durable. Also you can wear name brands that you would never know which brand it is unless you look at the tag. Not all brand names have to be worn on the outside, for instance I like Banana Republic jeans b/c I am short and they are made in petite so I don't have to pay extra money to get them hemmed, and it doesn't say anywhere on the outside of my jeans that they are brand name.

well, let me think... one argument for wearing it is, that most of the time brand name clothes last longer than non brand names, also it establishes you in your social life around you,
and you just seem more succesfull, just imagine going to a job interview in jeans and a cheap shirt, that looks cheap, or nice brand clothes?
those are all that I can think off, if I find more Ill let you know!!!
Hope I could help!

FOR wearing name brand clothing= Depending on the brand, they can be made of better quality fabrics. Better stitch work and better graphics.

I think people wear name-brand clothes to help them fit in with their peer group. There are psychological advantages to being able to interact effectively with your peers, and not being able to fit in can result in loneliness and depression.
