assuming it is in the wilderness either with an island is either nearby or crashed onto the island i would set up a system to ruduce the food suppy consumption as we identify the survivors and amount of availible food supply. the system would include having a group of 3 of the most capable people to scavenge for food in the area with a weapon from the crash to slice open a gaping hole wih a shard of the aircraft, or a large enough chunck of metal to use as a club to crush the skull of another depending on what animal they face. while the others use as little energy as possible to reduce their energy use so they dont need as much food sleep would be a good idea. the scavengers will hunt for etible plants, fish, and other animals in the area. water will be needed so they will also need something that isnt contaminated anything unhealthy to ingest to collect rainwater as it is the chances of it being pure are better than the sea water and any other water arround which could have been contaiminated by wild rats or other nasty critters... as long as it can retain water inside and it rains you have the freashest water availible. when things start to not be so grim and the food and water suply has grown than everyone can pitch in and not have to sleep as much as possible or spend as little energy as they can stand.

By the way it does take weeks to die of starvation but it doesnt take long to become week and incapable to defend yourself and you are than at the mercy of whoever or whatever walks your way.

and whatever anyone does everyone must stay calm if the leader of the group looses his/her cool so do the others hope for survival

I'm not sure what you need help finding, but if you're asking me what I think then I agree with 006 as well. There is no reason why anyone should have to die. I would never choose 5 people and just say, 'sorry, but you don't deserve to live." Nobody's life is anymore important than anyone else's. We are all the most important people in the world to at least 1 person.

Hhhhmmm, you'd have to factor more into the equation. At this point I'm thinking food for 5 people can go a long way, and 10 people can get a lot more done than 5.

Feed the strong, not just physically strong, but the leaders. Depending on where you crashed you will need good leadership in order to find a way out or for that matter another source of food. Eventually if no one comes or you cannot find food the strongest will be the best suited to survive. Sorry weak ones, but it is the rule in nature that only the strong survive.

Help you find what? Find more food? A way to get the survivors to safety?

I agree with 006.
I hate these "moral experiments". Just because two people disagree on the solution doesn't mean one is right and one is wrong, so what's the point?

It takes weeks to die of starvation. Ration the food and walk out of the wilderness. Pick berries and eat fruit, and hunt, if you have the know-how. There is no reason why anyone should die.
