I don't know about you but I find this hilarious. You'd think they could have chosen a better destination than D.C. Heck, why not Detroit? But seriously, exactly what is the point of this? And if you attended, what would you want to say to the kind Yahoo folk?

Fonzie - There could be some scary love connections as a result. The Answer team sounds about as exciting as your average condominium board.

Sookie - The idea of an open bar at this gathering terrifies me. I wouldn't mind going but it wouldn't be for social purposes. I'd want answers and explanations for their arbitrary justice. It could be the one chance to actually talk to a real person and not get a meaningless form letter.

Jakex & Tara – No doubt about it. Certainly the ones that would go with the intent of “having a good time” you’d have to wonder about. Stick a big “L” on the forehead.

Master C – I could see it like the White Sox fan convention of a few years back. There were several angry fans asking very good and pointed questions as to the direction of the team. There was plenty of tension in the air. Of course, they ended up winning the Series that year.

You heard it here first. If there isn't an open bar, huevo_ranchero is treating for the microbrews and a night at the Black Cat, lol.

Spooky - Like I said, the primary purpose wouldn't be as a social gathering, at least the Y!A part. I would treat it as a business excursion, with papers in hand of deleted answers and demand an explanation.

icouldbeagain - Can't be any worse than Chicago. Plus, I never get lost. I'd like to hear more about this ill-fated concert though.

MachPen – Perhaps that would be their attitude but I’m a big believer in safety in numbers. They can’t give everybody the “brick wall” treatment. My gosh, where HAVEN’T you lived, lol. U-Haul must love you!

lol- interesting idea, actually, but what I think'll happen is most people simply won't attend. A few straglers might, but I wouldnt expect huge numbers. I'd be surprised. Most, I think are perfectly fine in their comfort zones: ie- at home/behind a screen.

Besides, it might end up feeling like a singles social or something. :)

LOL. I can just visualize the out of towners getting stuck in traffic and/or lost around Tyson's Corner. Looks like they are trying to maximize crowd control by keeping it to 50 non-staffers.

Personally I'd have little interest in that gathering... but the Black Cat sounds fun :) Haven't been there since a certain ill-fated concert in '94, but that's another story...

edit: lovnrockets - it was the last concert I went to with my ex, who wasn't the ex at the time but we broke up shortly thereafter. Between that drama and the crappy sound, it damn ruined KMFDM for me for a couple of years. Kind of sad, since En Esch was still touring with them. Somehow I never made it back to the Black Cat for another concert - went to the 9:30 Club and Nation several times, and some of the other larger venues.

Not up for the whole thing at all, but if they're giving all you can drink free microbrews I could be coerced.....

It could be pretty sweet, avoid the hubbub, get lit up, and go attend a good show at The Black Cat.

Edit: Ugh, they're haveing a crappy Smiths vs. Cure dance party. (I like both but not for a dance thing). Maybe they can move it as Stiff Little Fingers is this Thursday and Dino. Jr. is the 27th.

Edit: Woohoo, drinks are on me!!

If too many of the answerers from the Politics and Religion sections show up, it's going to turn into one big riotous brawl.

Yeah, and I bet when you arrive, there will be a big brick wall with a sign that reads: "Please direct all questions to this brick wall" lol

edit: And yes - I'm totally with everyone else on this, too. There'd have to be a nice complimentary bar incentive.

Huevo: Awww The Black Cat!!! Isn't that place just fantastic?
I miss the Adams Morgan area, too. sigh

Hmmm...I wonder how much "drink" is involved...

There are plenty of R&P participants I would like to meet in person, but I have no interest in meeting any of the Answers team. I have plenty of questions I would like to ask them about violations and suspensions of people here that I know and like, and that could get ugly if there's an open bar.

Edit: *gasp* Drinks are on huevo? See you there!!! :)

I imagine this event being one of the most cliquey gatherings in the history of conferences/symposia. I can't shake the feeling that it might result in some sort of mass riot, like something out of the Simpsons.

I'd be up for the meeting and the greeting and the micro-brews. Otherwise, they can take all of my "abusive" answers and *This portion of this answer has been deleted by Yahoo! Thank you and have a wonderful day*
