Help! I have a family member who has conveniently decided that she and her fiancee have decided to get married this weekend. It was so last minute (they planned this last Friday), and now she wants everyone to drop everything and be at her wedding. It is AN EXTREME inconvenience for me and I don't see why I should feel obligated to go. I want to tell her, but I know that she is going to be upset. So should I stay or should I go.

How much to you care about her? Is she important enough to you, to be inconvenienced over?

You need to sacrifice.Remember, that she's a family. She will celebrate her special moment and ofcourse she wanted everyone to be there..Wedding just happens for once in a while.
Why don't you think about if you are the one gettin married? If she thinks about you going to her wedding then she might definitely attend to yours.

Personally I think she should be aware that she is putting people in this kind of position and not expect everyone to show up. I'd like to think I would talk to her. Use only 'I' sentences, like I feel, I think, I want, I can't, that way she shouldn't feel attacked. She can't argue with something you are experiencing.

If you're close to her - rearrange your plans. It would mean the world to her. If you're not - don't go.
I can't imagine anyone pulling off a wedding in less than one week. Crazy. She honestly sounds like she doesn't respect anyone else's opinions/feelings.

Tell her, I'm so happy for the both of you, but I'm so sorry that I won't be able to attend the wedding. If I only knew even one week earlier. Good luck to you both.

Just tell her you may be there, no guarantees. She is probably caught up in the excitement of it all and hasn't thought about the impact on others. By the tone of your posting you sound hurt, is there more to this?

since the only problem to you is the timing then i suggest you make time for it. it's not like she is getting married everyday, right.
you going to make her happy!!!
