I understand medicaid . . . are there any other examples or perhaps a definition? I was watching a great documentary about abortion (neither side looked crazy) produced by Frontline and this was a huge sticking point.

Under the Bush administration, there has been little or no federal funding for abortions. Some Planned Parenthood detractors claim they get federal funding, but they declined all funding from the feds after being told they would have to cease all abortions operations (which are legal). Even international groups receive no funding if even 5% of their programs involved education about safe ways to not be pregnant; this policy has created havoc in areas where women are having too many babies in too short a time, thereby increasing child and maternal mortality.

I'm not sure. When I was in Peace Corps we were told point blank the federal government would not pay for abortion.

mediCal, Medicaid, and some rare cases would be medicare supplemental ... for the mentally ill, or someone in a mental institution who was raped, that kind of thing.

but under this administration, the mother will be allowed to die and leave all her other children orphans, before anyone in this administration will offer help.
