I need to receive an international wire transfer. The foreign bank (in Spain) needs my bank's swift code and my IBAN number. The representative at my Chase branch does not know what an IBAN number is. She said only the switft code and my account number are all that are needed? Is it possible that my IBAN number is just the swift code followed by my account number?

Whoever you are dealing with at Chase is a stupid idiot!
United States Banks are not involved in the IBAN System. You can do a Google/Yahoo search by just typing in IBAN Wikipedia and you will see.
Foreign banks are stupid also. They don't realize that U.S. Banks currently do not participate in the IBAN System.
Since the foreign bank in Spain needs instuctions, this is what you give them/ or the sender of the wire.
SWIFT CODE: chasus33
Bank Name: JP Morgan Chase
ABA Number: 021000021 (If necessary really not needed)
Beneficiary Name: Your name
Beneficiary Account Number: Your account # at Chase
That is all the Spanish bank needs in order to make the Swift Payment Order- Transfer

U.S. banks don't have an IBAN, just routing number and maybe a swift code.
