First, your work is copyrighted the moment you create it. If you wish to control its use, you should register it with the Library of Congress. That lets you sue people.

send the original through the post to yourself, that way they are date stamped by royal mail, and if any one tries to nick it you will have proof that it was yours first and dont open it
