I'm writing a film analysis and i'd like to address this aspect. I was thinking maybe Guns N' Roses, but their british so I suspect its a combination of different bands.

The film was inspired by the real-life story of Tim 'Ripper' Owens, singer in a Judas Priest tribute band who was chosen to replace singer Rob Halford when he left the band. The original title of the movie was to be Metal God, similar to signature Judas Priest song "Metal Gods".

Yeah,someone else got it right.. Judas Priest.. There is no doubt about it.. (although, I have to say.. the replacement in the movie was better than the one IRL.. I tried.. but can't stand listening to them anymore)
