I think my daughter was about 17 pounds then. But she wasn't a picky eater, she liked a variety but she didn't eat a lot. She still grew and had messy diapers so I knew she was fine.

My son is 16 months. He was a great eater until around 12-13 months. He started not wanting to eat anything. Just a few bites here and there. My doctor told me it was normal because their growth slows way down around 12 months, so, he wouldn't eat as much. He also told me not to worry as long as he was gaining weight. He would eat and drink as much as he needed. He would not starve himself. Just keep offering food. Even if it's something she seems to not like. Keep offering it, it takes up to 14 times of trying something before a baby knows if they really like it or not (keep offering those veggies!!). My son is tall and skinny--he weighs only 22 lbs. now. My doctor says it's great. He is still not much of an eater, but, he is getting better. Also, try feeding your daughter less food more often. My son likes to eat a few bites all day long. Is your daughter very active? My son is, that is why I think he eats all day, because he burns up energy so quickly. Anyway, don't worry, being a picky eater is very normal.

Yes, mine is like this too. He used to eat everything, until about 2 months ago (he's almost 15 months now and probably weighs about 23 lbs.). When babies become toddlers, they start to develop tastes for certain things and it is common for them to become picky eaters. That is why you always see macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets advertised for children....2 common food items that kids get stuck on. Also, their growth starts to slow down at 1 year, so it seems like they are not eating as much either. Keep offering a variety of foods, however. I find with my son that he will eat an item one day and then refuse it another day. You might want to try offering fruits and veggies at snack times also, if you find that your daughter is not eating them at mealtimes. Also, my son eats a lot for breakfast and less and less as the day progresses. Good luck!

Would you eat every thing put in front of you. Well, babies have their own tastes. Right now your little one is focusing on other things - like learning to walk, and gaining some independence. She will eat when she is ready to eat. Don't worry about her weight, unless she doesn't gain at all or is losing weight. If it will put your fears to rest, check with her doctor, but realize that most kids at that age are picky.
