I've often thought it would be interesting to peel back history one war at a time, and speculate what it might look like.
Say the US never invaded Iraq. Saddam is still in power, still writing checks to the families of suicide bombers, thumbing his nose at the UN, and pretending to have WMDs so the Iranians won't kick his *** and take his country.
Say the US never invaded Afghanistan. The Taliban is still in power, sponsoring Al Qaeda, and persecuting women and non-muslims.
Say we stayed out of Somalia. The movie Blackhawk Down is never made. (hey, they can't all be tragedies)
Say we stayed out of the Balkans. Ethnic cleansing would likely have been completed by now. Greater Serbia would be a racially pure dictatorship.
Say we never went after Iraq the first time. Greater Iraq includes the former Kuwait, and has all that oil money to spend on it's nuclear program.
Then there's the big ones. No WWII? The 'Final Solution' is carried to completion. No American Civl War? Slavery still exists in the Confederate States. No Mexican-American war? Illegal immigrants from impoverished Alto California flood Canada. No Revolutionary War? No America, no democracy, no catchy tunes written by war protestors.

well if we didn't go to war against and defeat germany you would probally be writing this in german oh no you wouldn't there would be no internet and even if there was you wouldn't be allowed to use it that is if all your ancestors weren't burnt to death in the furnaces come on man you take your freedom for granted it was not free brave soldiers fought and died for it
