If I was already sleeping and the sound of rain wakes me up, I mentally do an inventory of open windows, if the sound is stormy, May get up to shut the window to avoid rain coming in.

Then go back to sleep.

As for looking out at the moon, duh ! Remember it is raining. Therefore the moon is not visible due to overhead dark rainclouds.

I lay on my bed and watch the rain fall outside dreaming about the future or just thinking.. Then I fall asleep!

Sometimes I sleep but sometimes I try to find what is left of the moon because the clouds are hiding it.
