I can't understand the people that work in the fast food establishments anymore, they seem to be speaking jibberish. I'm glad that their working, but if you want to get a better job, don't you think you need to learn how to communicate intellegently?

I don't think they are looking for a better job...
i think they are contempt with what they have...
most of the fast food workers are high school students,
foreigners, college students, retirees,
most of them just have that job to make ends meet...
but i agree they should be able to speak the language
in order to work there. After all the menu is all in
the English Language.

Because people there are immigrants and desperately need a job. You might find this in countries with rising/well stable economies. It is the restaurant's management responsibility to take care of the language problem as I think communication between client and employer is extremely vital. Thus good English is definitely needed.

in mcdonalds we have a high standard of hiring people to work in our company. we never threw anyone who don't speak english on the counter unless they have been train to do so certainly not the people who can't speak english.
if this is what happen to you then i suggest you to make a formal complaint to mcdonald headquarter. be sure to have your detail so that they can investigate this matter.
but sometime the crew also have to deal with so many funny customer who pretending that we didn't undertand them so that they can get away with free food. the customer not always right...although we say that the customer is our boss and they always right but there's also customer who abuse that. they come to mcdonald and they expect a 5 stars hotel treat. be real!!! it's a fast food for **** sake. it's not a hotel or a resort. if you wish to be treated like a king then go to hilton for your ******* burger. or should i give you the list of all the fast food restaurant you can go to? i can go on for days with those list.
i am so ******* tired of people complaining about mcdonald. hey...it's a free world out there. you have so many ******* choice. you don't have to go to mcdonald where...according to you...they don't speak english.
so...would you like fries with that?

yeah I agree with you. I am picky about my food and order everything plain.... I get so pissed when I don't get a plain burger at McDonald's or don't get my order right anywhere else coz ppl can't speak English. Seriously, they should only allow people who speak English to become permanent residents/citizens in this country.

I suppose you are from America, the country that has never claimed English as it's primary language. Second you must be from a coatal region because I am from central America and the employees at McDonald's speak english fine here.

If you want them to learn English maybe you should learn their language and see just how difficult it is to learn a second language later in life.

(By The Way ... going off of your grammer your English isnt much better than theirs anyways ...)

It's because they are cheap labor. Who knows if they are even legal? The Burger King I used to work at when I was in high school is predominantly Spanish speaking. That wasn't the case when I worked there. It was diverse. (White, black, hispanic, etc.) Now it looks like 90% Hispanic if not 100% Hispanic.

Because people like you won't except McDonald kind of jobs so as a result they have to hire those who are willing even they don't speak good English. All they want is to feed to their family not making fun.

because most people dont want to work there for hard work and low pay, so they hire the next best thing to your inconvenience, if they didnt hire immigrants then they would not be able to serve you delicious burgers out a window... think about it next time u complain how expensive the food is
