Barometric pressure is also a good indicator of what the weather is going to do. That's why some people who have had injuries can feel the weather in their bones. They can feel the pressure from the barometer rising or falling.

Because barometric pressure, or changes in it, are the best indicator of changes in weather. A falling barometic pressure indicates approach of a low which is likely to be accompanied by storms or rain. A rising pressure indicates an approaching high which is often clear skies and calm weather. Extreme low pressure almost always indicates that a storm, probably a major one, is very close and you will usually feel oppressed as if the air is clinging around you.

Barometric pressure has a direct effect on the weather. In a nutshell, high pressure indicates fair weather, low, dropping pressure means storms/rain moving in. Wind blows from areas of high pressure to low (to equalize things), and this drives clouds, storms, etc. There's also humidy and temperature to confuse the issue.

An interesting bit of trivia. Some people have conditions and illnesses that are sensitive to this pressure, so they watch the weather reports specifically for that info.

Because it's changes in air pressure that causes weather. An area of high pressure generally results in clear skies and settled weather, which in the summer leads to warm dry weather and in the winter leads to cold dry weather. Areas of low pressure bring rain and wind. The lower the pressure, the worse the weather. Hurricanes are often measured by the lowest pressure in the weather system.

Sudden drops and elevations can mean changes in the weather. As a side note people that suffer from certain diseases are caused problems with change in pressure also. There are machines that have to have the proper barometric pressure set in them to function properly as well.

If the barometric pressure is rising, it probably will not rain. As the pressure falls, rain is coming. That is why I am interested in knowing what the pressure is.

because, a barometer measures changes in the pressure of the athmosphere. This is the force exerted on everything at the earths surface by the weight of the athmosphere. Changes in athmospheric pressure affect the weather.By measuring these changes, barometers can be used to help forcast the weather.

It is an indication of what is in progress for the future. If it is changing real fast, especially decreasing, then it indicates rain I.E. bad weather is on the way (Low Pressure) If it is rising fast it indicates fair weather is on its' way. It can for tell of tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. A lot of people use the changes to tell them if their plans are a good idea or not............

High pressure is a sign of stability; low pressure a sign of change.
In the recent panic around the North Sea it was a combination of low pressure (bringing high winds), high tides and other factors which threatened to breach our coastal defences.

It has to do with the atmospheric pressure that holds moisture. When the pressure is up, it may mean a storm is brewing. It's used a lot down south because of the threat of hurricanes.
