No one likes to admit that looks matter. The only way I would handle that is if my personality allows it .
I'd think of myself too. If I Was scarred, I would want love.

Amy,
That depends on what you mean by scarred.
If you mean a literal scarring of the skin, that affects only the outward appearance, then YES, if all the other elements needed for a happy marriage are there.
On the other hand, if you mean emotionally, or mentally scarred, then you have some work to do before making that decision. If you love him and want to help him deal with his issues, then consult with a professional before going through with the marriage, especially if his scars could interfere with your relationship.
Good Luck - I wish you all the best in dealing with a difficult situation.

I think the scars on the outside of the body people can get past and love one another. The scars from the inside is a bit different because it usually requires the person needing counceling.

Yes. I married my wife who was incestuously sexually abused as a child, leaving emotional scars for life. After 21 years of marriage and love, those scars have practically no effect anymore. I loved her so much, I didn't care about her scars.

If you can deal with it , and love them , yes! There are many people that are scared for life ( A statement that is abused by many of them to keep attention focused on themselves ) so to speak, But , if they don't dwell on it, If they try to achive things that are important to their marriage . then in time they will see these scars fade..

Maybe you should ask, Would you divorce your spouse because they became scarred?
Having an accident or illness that required surgery should not be a reason to end a relationship.
