I believe that the average (12oz) aluminum can weighs just a little over half an ounce. I believe it takes about 27 of them to make a pound, so each one would weigh about 1/27th lb.

The other answers are right. If you are planning on melting the cans, you will be able to get about half that weight back in melted aluminum, the rest of it being paint, plastic lining, and oxidized aluminum.

you mean, aluminum cans...? like, pop cans...?

that would make each can about 0.03125 pounds or 0.5 oz.
