What are your views on Herman Melville's story, "Bartleby the Scrivener"? I'm just curious to see if my reaction to it was similar to anyone else's....

Bartleby is a classic example of a passive-agressive, being pretty militant about his "I choose not to" stance, but not having the spine to actually choose something else.

EDIT - Yup, he said "prefer," not choose. Minor oops on my part; it's been a long time since I read the story. :-)
