A sheriff delivers and executes an eviction notice. That means he comes to the door and you and your belongings leave at that time. As in NOW! And if you won't leave you are detained, men come in and put your stuff at the street and then sit you on top of it and then send you a bill for the move.

If you are renting a house or apartment and you receive a demand letter from the owner asking you to move out, then you are considered a "squatter" until the owner files a Motion for Eviction in small claims court. Once you are served with copies of this legal document, it specifies exactly how long you have to get your things off the property before an Officer of the Law comes to evict you and your property from the premises. It could take up to thirty days (or possibly more) to get a "squatter" legally evicted from your property.

It takes about a month or two for an eviction to be finalized.

However if this is a note from the sheriff stating that you have three days to leave after the eviction process has been completed you have three days. At the end of the three days the sheriff will come and remove yourself and your belongings from the premises.

First answer is wrong. In most states it takes about thirty days to process the eviction...sometimes longer.

Each state is different. In some states they can get a court order in a matter of days. In places like New York it can take months.
