Best to worst in my opinion

Alexandra ( just because I like the nickname Alexy or Lexy)

Isabelle (Its common were i live but really cute, and i love the nickname Izzy)

Elizabeth (its ok but for some reason it sounds like a stuck up name, lol, i dont know why i just said that, lol)

Victoria (its ok but wouldnt consider it for my own)

Katherine (sounds old)

Eleanor (really dont like this name, it sounds really old even older than katherine and its just not sweet)

I'd put Eleanor top of the list. First, I love the nickname Nora. But it also feels a bit more distinctive than some of the others.

In second place, I'll put Victoria. If only it had better nicknames that Vicky and Tori, it would be number one. You could use Vica ... but I'm not sure about that.

Alexandra comes third, but only if you opt for Alexa or Sasha as a nickname, rather than the tired Alex.

Elizabeth is fourth. If you use the nickname Libby, I'd rank it even higher.

Katherine is fifth, mainly because by calling her Kate she'll be mashed in with the Katelyns and Kaylies infesting the playgrounds these days.

And I'll put Isabelle last. Hard to argue with its regal reputation, but it's quite popular.

Still, I must say it's lovely to see a list of classic and enduring names, and I think you'll be happy with any combination from this list.

Good luck!

1. Eleanor - because I adore it. Classic, but not overused, and very versatile. If she wants something more "popular," there's always the Elle, Ellie, Ella type nicknames (so hot at the moment). ;) And I personally love Nell or Nora as lesser-used nickname options (Eleanor, with Nora as a pet form, is on our very-short list of TWO for this daughter LOL ... we already have a Nelly in the immediate family, or Nell would be a strong contender as well). Love it.

2. Elizabeth - obviously more common a choice, but truly timeless. And the absolute plethora of nickname options manages to keep the full name always fresh and fitting for nearly any personality, since she could just as easily be Eliza, Izzy, Liz(zy), Libby, Lily, Beth, Bette, Betty, Betsy, Bess, etc., besides Elle, Ellie, Ella, Nell and Nelly mentioned above. ;)

3. Katherine - more popular, what with all the little Kates out there at the moment, but equally timeless. I slightly prefer the Catherine form, but either is a lovely, classic choice.

4. Victoria - one of the few where I love the formal version, but none of the nickname options. Perfect if you don't plan to shorten it anyway, but not one I'd personally use as a first name only because I dislike the usual Vicky or Tori (and since you can't always control what people will try to call her ...). If you're not averse to them, however, still quite nice. I prefer Vivian or Viola, as far as similar names go. :)

5. Isabelle - I actually quite like the Scottish Isobel form, but the name in general, especially with the Isabelle spelling (so similar to top-ten Isabella), is a bit too "frilly" and common for my taste.

6. Alexandra - sort of the same as Isabelle. It's a fine, classic choice that's unfortunately overused, especially when you consider the other Alex- names currently so popular -- Alexander, Alexis, "Alexus," Alexandria, Alexa and the very-unfortunate Alexia (a brain disorder given all-too-frequently as a "pretty" Alex- alternative). ;)

Oooh, I'm Katherine Elizabeth, and I really like my name! It's a longer name, but I feel like it's a sophisticated, classy name that's served me well over the years.

The other names:

Eleanor -I LOVE this name. You have Eleanor Roosevelt as a namesake, and you have the nicknames Ellie and Norah.

Katherine -As I mentioned, it's my name. It was kind of common when I was a kid, but it's declined enough in popularity that it shouldn't be a problem. I went by Katie Beth around my family, Katie in elementary school, Kate in junior high and high school, and now that I'm in my twenties, I use Kate, Kaye, and Katherine. Other nicknames include Kit, Kitty, Kat, and Ren.

Elizabeth -It's very regal sounding, and I love the nickname Betsy. I can't stand Liz or Lizzy, though.

Isabelle -I used to love this name, but I would use it as a middle name only. It's getting very common. I much prefer the nicknames Bella and Ellie to Izzy.

Victoria -It is a pretty name, I just don't like it much.

Alexandra -I really don't like it, mainly because I don't like name Alex in any form (Alexander, Alexis, etc.)

So my favorites are:

Eleanor Isabelle
Katherine Elizabeth
Elizabeth Victoria

Hope this helps!

Since you mention "regal" names, I am assuming you would want to pick a name that can't be abbreviated to something not so "regal". So, I am basing my selections on names that work best when used as a whole and how they would sound shortened.

#1 Alexandra Alex Allie Lexie (Alexis would be a great name)
#2 Elizabeth Liz Lizzie Beth
#3 Isabelle Izzie Belle Bella
#4 Eleanor El Ellie Nora
#5 Victoria Vicky Vic Torie
#6 Katherine Kat Kathy Katie

Very best wishes to your new arrival.

Victoria, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Alexandra, Eleanor, Katherine

I really don't like Katherine...never have. The first 3 names (Victoria, Elizabeth, Isabelle) are really pretty & they all have cute NN possibilities.

1. Elizabeth - classic, traditional and forever beautiful and in style
2. Isabelle - graceful and elegant
3. Katherine - another traditional name, yet forever in style
4. Victoria - most regal of the names
5. Alexandra - a little too long with the common shortener of "Alex"
6. Eleanor - a little too old fashioned for the girl of the 21st century
Good luck with baby :)

Elizabeth, Katherine, Isabelle, Eleanor, Alexandra, Victoria. Of course, the name will be judged 'rega'l by the personality of the young lady who receives it. One of the coolest people I ever met was a 20-something named Eleanor. Have you considered Evangeline? I love that name.
