I have a friend I live with and for the last couple weeks he would grumble and get upset every morning about his ear "clicking". It came to a head this morning and he really started to throw a fit about it and then started screaming "Shut up!" "Shut up!" why lying down in the bed
I was not saying a thing but I tried talking to him, to calm him down.
"Both of you shut up!" He kept saying this over and over everytime I tried talking to him to calm him down..
No one besides me and him in the house.
So this got me quite concerned when he said this.
What could be wrong?

He told me to shut up and cutas the conversation off when I ask what is being heard.

He is not always honest with me.

It makes it difficult to trust him and believe what he tells me half the time.

It sounds like he is hearing voices. If he won't listen to you, is there family that might help him out? He needs to get on medication. Often times people that have this happening do not think they have a mental illness and won't take meds. It is a difficult conundrum

Sounds like he is partially dilusional, perhaps clinical dimentia.

First, be understanding, try to inquire more about the situation at hand, such as what is being said by these voices. Another thing you might want to figure out, is has this person had any recent injuries to the head. Dimentia is often caused by either head injury or tumor growths in the brain (usually resulting in loss of blood flow to certain sections of the brain, thus causing the strange noises he hears).

Please be delicate, one wrong move could place this persons life in danger, and right now, they are more dangerous to themselves than any other person could be. If possible, help your freind to seek medical attention, dimentia and psychosis are not light matters of the brain.

I would be wanting to ask what "they" are saying.
