Well we're having boy / girl twins, the usual problem - stuck on names.
Thinking of Alistair James and Roslyn Cara, but not sure if Roslyn is suitable for a girl?
Any suggestions would be appreciated - we like traditional scottish / celtic names best, and nothing too bizarre!
Surname's Bolton.

Alistair James is very handsome. ;)

And of course Roslyn is "suitable for a girl," but the actual form used would depend on the intended pronunciation, in my opinion. If you truly want to avoid the ROZ-a-lind (very slight D sound) pronunciation, Roslyn makes perfect sense for you. However, with the surname Bolton -- also six letters ending in N, like Roslyn -- I actually find Rosalind Bolton even more visually appealing, and the subtle added D sound quite appealing to break up the repetitive N endings (not to mention how wonderful Rosalind and Alistair would be together). :) Just my personal opinion, and either is fine, but Rosalind is certainly an intriguing option!

As for other suggestions, you might also like:

Roisin

Rosmerta
Isla
Elspeth/Elspet
Maura
Moira
Fiona
Fiora
Catriona
Alastriona
Ailsa
Aila - though none of these last few as a twin to Alistair, of course ;)

Angus
Lachlan
Findlay/Finley
Graeme/Graham
Gregor
Oran
Ewan
Hugh
Conall
Callum
Ferris
Doyle
Neil
Niall
Oscar

Just a few that seem to share some sound elements or general style with those mentioned. ;) You might also find these sites useful:

Obviously the first is composed of Irish Celtic choices, but many being interchangeable or having known Scottish forms, still worth a look. Behind the Name allows you to view names already sorted by origin/usage (Scottish, Irish, general Celtic mythology, etc.). Hope they help! ;)

I think it is pretty, not used very much and it is an elegant name. Alistair is neat, never heard of that one before. I like unique names and wouldn't criticize someone for being unique, I know how it feels when others make you feel bad for trying to be different! Roslyn reminds me of the 'hot girl' from that movie "A Knight's Tale", I think that was her name? Roslyn is definitely a girl name, no worries there. If you like it go for it ; )

wow, I love those names thery're great. Alisdare, is an awesome name cuz the nickname could be Dare, or AJ for Alistair Jaimes But Roslyn Cara doesn't flow too well, I really like Roslyn but what about another middle name, like Roselyn Nora, or Roslyn Amy or Roslyn Nicole, Roselyn Keira, or Roselyn Delilah, roselyn something, not Cara,

roslyn Cara is really nice...I know a girl called Roslyn who when she was little got called Rosie.

Im the same, I like scottish traditional names aswell.

Some scottish name suggestions... (although I dont think you need them as Roslyn Cara is lovely!)

Cora: means maiden (sounds like cara)
Fiona : means Fair
Lara : means cheerful
Rhiannon: I like this one as it gets shortened to "rhia" but it means witch! lol.
rossalyn : another spelling of roslyn..

Alistair James is really nice.

Alistair is fine - I know someone with this name. The only trouble you might have is the fact that there are so many different spellings. Roslyn is lovely.

Maybe you could do James Alistair or use a different first name for a boy. I don't like it very much.

Roslyn is nice for a girl. The spelling Rosalyn might be preferred.

Wow, strange, my brother's name is Alastair James. Ok, so Alastair is spelt differently but it's still wierd. We call him Ali for short which he prefers and it sounds really cool.
And I think Roslyn is a really nice nice name since you could call her Rose/Rosie/Lyn/Lin for short. It's quite cerfisticated so when she's older, she'll have a good name she will be able to use in a prefessional environment.
The two names go really together and the middle names are really nice too.
Good luck for the future but what ever names you pick, I'm sure they'll be perfect for them
