I have a friend who has just bought one from Amazon Germany, as above you just need the adapter for the plug. Even the instruction manual is in english first

Yes the wii from Germany is OK,, bought one last week, arrived this week via DHL. Manuals are in english (and other languages). all you need is a plug adaptor.
Although I have heard a rumour that amazon.de have now stopped supply to the uk due to the huge demand

The TV system in Germany is PAL, so is ours, so yes, a German Wii will work over here.

Just buy a tourist adapter to plug it in as it will have 2 pins.

interest station have been taking charge and getting the wii in a similar week. they're all around the rustic so i might examine to your nearest and ring them. I have been given mine that way , sturdy success x Plus they have not hiked the fee up like some places have started too
