For those who want equal rights that is fair. You can't pick and choose which rights you want; it's all or nothing.

Personally, I don't know why anyone would volunteer to enlist in military service when their country is initiating offensive action against with another (that is, Iraq)
I do however agree that compulsory enlistment is justified for the defence of ones nation.
I am undecided about whether this should include women or not. Haven't you noticed that the second world war veterans generally don't discuss the war and the ones that do probably didn't see action. There is a very good reason for that - why would women want to put themselves through that.

It's fair to expect women to register for the draft just like men. Don't you think that would be fair? If there's a draft, wouldn't you be willing to serve your country in some capacity? Most women in that age group would be more than willing to serve. However, many people, men and women alike, are opposed to the draft for anyone. This is not just a "feminist" issue.
Feminists expect equal treatment and equal rights as well as equal pay for equal work. Isn't that fair? If you had spent the same number of years in school/training and working in the same field/job position as a man, wouldn't you expect to get paid equally?
And, yes, feminists want all the rights...all of the same rights as men. "Equal rights" have no finite quantity, so it is inaccurate to claim someone wants "all" the rights so no one else has any.

No it wouldn't be unfair to women to register if ERA became a law, but in the same respect it is unfair now for male to register for the a future draft.

Feminists agree that women should also be required to sign up for Selective Service. That doesn't mean they'll ever get to see any action.

I did 4 years in the Army and believe that military service should be mandatory for 2 years minimum for everyone.

Feminists have been very reluctant to recognize any relation between equal rights and equal responsibilities...
