Every woman is different. Every pregnancy is different. I've heard of some women going into labor and feeling horrible pain (enough to know what it feels like). Your water could also break and then the contractions can start. For me, I was feeling pressure like the baby was pushing out on my stomach and my doctor said that was contractions. We ended up inducing because things were taking too long. After they broke my water, that is when I started to feel the bad contractions that I've heard of. Epidurals fixed me up nicely, though. You will know and if you have doubts of what you are feeling, call your doctor's office. They provided you with an emergency number at this point, right? Good luck on bringing that new life into this world!

You'll know. Trust me. You'll know. Even if you have silent contractions at some point your water will break, or you'll find yourself with an uncontrollable need to push like you're pooping.
Labor contractions are harder than prelabor contractions. They hurt more and theyre more intense, and they dont stop, they only get worse. NO matter if you lay down or walk or anything else.
Labor is not bad at all, its like a really bad period, or atleast all 37 1/2 hours of of mine werent. Pushing isnt bad either, it feels good after all that labor, because during the labor part you cant push, you have to relax or you'll hurt yourself or make it worse. WHen you finally get to push its wonderful, and then, the harder you push the faster its over. I pushed 6 hours. It didnt hurt, what hurt was when he crowned. That hurt for about two pushes.
I remember thinking "OH GOD THIS HURTS, OOOOH GOD THIS HURTS, OOOOHHH MYYYY GOOOODDD... oh its over." It was just that fast. Its awesome.
So dont worry, its an amazingly exciting day.

It's hard to say what it's going to feel like, I think it really is different for everyone. I had a lot of back labor, which I hadn't expected. Everything was in my back and it took me a while to figure out that I was in labor. But trust me, there is just something about the regularity and intensity that makes it different than braxton hicks. And if you're like me, your water will break before too long. Just know that it will happen and you will just seem to know what to do. Good luck to you!

Oh, chances are very high that you'll know you're in labour. Contractions hurt like hell - imagine the worst menstrual/bowel cramps you've ever had, and times that by about 100. Some start out bad, others start gradually.
Very rarely, someone has 'silent labour' (a friend of mine had this)...but it doesn't happen very often.

You will know....contractions that indicate you are in labor so not stop and start...they start off mild and continue building in both frequency and intensity with no relief until there is no doubt! At that point time them and call the Dr and they will advise you from there!
You may also start to bleed a little which is another good indicator...your waters may not break on their own so that is not a reliable indicator

oh you will know. It feels like menstrual cramps, sometime you may get or feel them in your lower back. time them from the start of the first one to the start of the second one and thats how far apart they are, if they come regularly then you are in early labor. when they are about 5 min apart, call the doctor.

i was also scared i wouldnt know because when i asked the doc what it would be like he just said intense period cramps but i had never had period cramps before and wasnt sure. when the time came though, i knew. for me my lower back would tense up very bad for about a min or so and then go away. i wasnt sure if it was the real thing so i just started timing them and within 2 hours they were coming 5 mins apart so i called my doc and he said to come on down to the hospital.

You will know - I had the same anxietys but when it happened boy did I know about it.
They are really really intense pains in the bottom of your stomach.
Try not to worry about it - billions of women have done it and most of us have gone back for more!!!!
You'll be fine
