Around here, it's most likely that what you brought home is Anolis Carolinensis (common Green Anole), they are very abundant in this area.

Depends on the lizard. At my work we feed all the lizards crickets. Depending on there mouth size though you can either feed it large or small crickets. If its even too little for those you can try flightless fruit flies. If you go to your local pet store they can help you out better.

Depends on the lizard but in general they eat small insects.
Make sure the aquarium he is keeping it in is in a well ventilated room. Reptiles, in a confined air space, can make you very sick.

how big is it? what color? what kind of bugs are around its natural habitat? why did you take a perfectly happy animal out of its natural habitat when you know nothing about how to care for it? Not to sound like a jerk but, seems kind of mean to do that.
